This unit makes it possible to disinfect much faster than by disinfecting the room in a classical manner, without wasting time and product and without counter-application. Indeed, as soon as the desinfection session is finished, you can enter the room.

It is sufficient to place this unit in the middle of the room to be disinfected, on a table, a bed or on the floor. Any bacteria or viruses floating in the air and environment are destroyed within minutes. It will be the same for all irradiated surfaces.

The radiation from mercury vapour lamp has a wavelength of 253.7 nm and very easily penetrates the microorganisms and cells and disrupts the structure of their DNA, making it impossible for them to multiply and de-facto prevent them from spreading.

Although our body cells are much larger, making UVC penetration difficult, exposure to this radiation to a person is not recommended despite having very little effect on the DNA of our cells. This radiation is also blocked by the windows on which it is reflected. Another special feature of this beam is that it partially splits the air molecules into ozone, this phenomenon is also the reason that the sunlight gives off very little UVC radiation because it is filtered by the oxygen in the air it passes before it reaches floor.

Ozone is also germicidal and will enter all small fractures and kill the micro organisms. The disinfection cycle takes 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the volume of the room. At the end of the disinfection it is advisable to ventilate to remove the slight ozone odour and the destroyed microorganisms.

When the disinfection cycle has started, the lamps will only warm up after 10 to 15 seconds and then turn on at full power. This gives enough time to leave the room safely.

Table 1 above summarizes the results of studies conducted on coronaviruses exposed to UV radiation, with the specific types listed in each case. The D90 value indicates the dose of UV for 90% inactivation.

Precautionary measures

✔ UV-C rays can damage the eyes and skin. People, children and animals should not be exposed to UV-C light. You must leave the room when using the UV-C lamp and allow the disinfection time to take place, from 15 minutes to 3 hours, depending on the surface to be treated.

✔ UV-C causes a slight ozone emission (but ozone also degrades viruses and bacteria), so it is advisable to ventilate the room after use.
